The internet is a weird, weird place and say I weird four thrice (including the last time) because that’s how bizarre it can get on www.internet.com. But sometimes, the creative conglomerate gets together to ask the most important questions when no one would even think of asking. In fact, Twitter, the mother of all has done it again and how! If you’re not in the know, Vodafone Idea are finally do jism, ek jaan. Let me rephrase that; after announcing their merger to stand stronger in the face of growing competition *coughs Jio coughs* back in 2018, Vodafone-Idea has finally managed to complete network integration and give birth to ‘Vi’ with an inverted ‘i’.
The Indian Express quoted said Ravinder Takkar, the Group’s MD and CEO, saying, “The brand integration not only marks the completion of the largest telecom merger in the world, but also sets us on our future journey to offer world class digital experiences to 1 Billion Indians on our strong 4G network… With Vi, we are confident of building a brand that continues to command respect and trust, and will be admired and loved by all.” Now, while there is time before we can safely attest the admire part, the revamp has definitely amused a lot of Tweeple. Who then turned to Twitter to express their concerns (read memes) and wonder if it’s ‘We’, ‘Why’ or both.
Vodafone Idea's new brand, VI, will be pronounced 'WE'
— Danish (@DanishKh4n) September 7, 2020Vi? (Pronounced 'why?') https://t.co/xNGoIkrKLF
— Nikhil Pahwa (@nixxin) September 7, 2020Agreed. Who on earth came up with this name for the app, @VodafoneIN? Did they think how difficult a two letter app may be to find on the App Store? Vi, (why) indeed! https://t.co/Env2Vx4zK9
— Nakul Shenoy (@NakulShenoy) September 8, 2020Vodafone/Idea merged into Vi.
Hope you know Vi still won't get any network!
